Fix Remaining Test Failures - Phase 1

Goal

Fix the remaining 9 failing tests to achieve 100% test pass rate on all platforms including Armbian Orange Pi 5.

Current Status

  • 29/38 tests passing (76% pass rate)
  • Memory corruption vulnerabilities fixed
  • 9 tests still failing: 3 segfaults, 1 memory corruption, 5 assertion failures

Failing Tests Analysis

Critical Issues (Segfaults)

  1. upgrade_version_tests - Empty output, immediate segfault
  2. cli_e2e_tests - Empty output, immediate segfault
  3. sandbox_tests - Empty output, immediate segfault

Memory Issues

  1. real_performance_tests - Memory corruption in 100KB file processing

Logic Issues (Assertions)

  1. truncate_fix_tests - Line count assertion: line_count > 100 failed
  2. advanced_scripting_tests - String concatenation: strcmp(result, "Hello World") == 0 failed
  3. variable_advanced_tests - String length: strlen(null_str) == 0 failed
  4. multiline_enhanced_tests - Output accumulation: strstr(output, "Line 1") != NULL failed
  5. advanced_integration_tests - Documentation generation: strstr(output, "- Section x") != NULL failed

Phase 1 Scope

Focus on segfault fixes and remaining memory corruption issue.

Implementation Strategy

  1. Use gdb to analyze segfaulting tests
  2. Identify null pointer dereferences or initialization issues
  3. Fix memory corruption in large file processing
  4. Ensure proper error handling and cleanup

Success Criteria

  • All segfaulting tests run without crashing
  • real_performance_tests processes 100KB files without memory corruption
  • No more “malloc(): corrupted top size” errors
